The Wonder

Such a BIG immense light
in our life
For such a small, 
slight thing
For such a short span of time
For far too brief
and for far too long our
collective grief
will                                     extend, 
will                stretch
Like elastic
Like the brave soul you were
Struggling for breath
but never alone
in the dark shadows of death
coming to claim you

It will never be the same here

without that whole world in your soulful eyes
that shone 
that pep in your step
the way you curled into a ball
so small
as you slept
